In the heart of Stockholm, just steps away from the water, lies the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Kungliga Akademien för de Fria Konsterna), a place that has been shaping the future of Swedish art for over 200 years. Stepping into this historic institution feels like taking a walk through time, where the past and present of Swedish art connect seamlessly.
One of my favorite spots within the Academy is the grand hall, where classical sculptures are displayed in an open, airy space. The sight of these magnificent works, immediately captivates your attention as soon as you enter. I always find myself pausing, admiring the artistry and craftsmanship in every piece.

Another highlight is the café, a hidden gem within the Academy. It’s the perfect spot to relax, its cozy ambiance and beautiful surroundings make it an ideal place to sit down with a good book, a sketchbook, chat with a friend or just watch the world pass by. The combination of art, coffee, and sweets creates a unique experience that is hard to find anywhere else in the city.

What I love about the Academy is the way it balances its rich historical significance with an open, contemporary approach to art.

For anyone visiting Stockholm, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts is a must-see — not just for its art, but for the entire experience. It’s a place where you can lose yourself in the beauty of the sculptures, take a moment to relax with a coffee, or even tap into your own creative side.
